The Knox Club annual charity day was held Sunday March 19 at Dorset Golf Course with 33 teams of 4 playing Ambrose followed by music and fundraising back at the Knox Club. The weather was great, breakfast sensational and the golf was played in great spirit with some good team scores. To date the Knox Club through its fundraising has donated $435,000 to the Cancer Council Victoria however this year the committee elected to donate the $20,000 they committed to the Eastern Health Coolheads foundation to help fund two machines for treatment of breast cancer.

The effects of breast cancer can be devastating and with over 15,000 women a year being diagnosed in Australia, most of us know someone who has been affected.  A scalp cooling machine reduces the effect of hair loss often associated with chemotherapy treatment. This will drastically reduce the visible trauma and stigma of cancer, thus preserving self-esteem and dignity for women.

Maroondah Hospital, as part of the Eastern Health Services, will become the first public health service in Victoria, to offer this new scalp cooling treatment free of charge to women receiving breast cancer chemotherapy.   For more information please visit the Coolheads website:

We sincerely thank all our sponsors, the participants and especially the helpers who made the day such and emotional success.
